Kyle Seitz a BISM Associate for seven years at our Raleigh Division is an Operations Administrator. He began his journey however, as a Sewing Machine Operator.
Get to know Kyle as he shares his love for sports, his idea of a perfect day, and how he learned an important life lesson during his journey at BISM.
What is your idea of a perfect day?
My idea of a perfect day is getting up and having a delicious breakfast; it is one of my favorite meals of the day. I could honestly eat breakfast food all day, at every meal. I also enjoy a ball game or two. I am a huge sports fan. Spending my day reading a book or going out with friends for dinner also makes for a perfect day. I find that I never get bored. To be honest, there is always a book to read or something to listen to like a game or documentary. A day full of hobbies, friends, and a good big breakfast is all I need to make it a perfect day.
Since you mentioned that breakfast food is your favorite, what would you consider the ultimate breakfast meal?
Eggs, bacon, and sausage, and of course, hash browns. Being from the south, I also have a weakness for biscuits.
How would your friends describe you?
I think they would describe me as having a good sense of humor in a subtle kind of way, a type of dry sense of humor. They say I make them laugh a lot. I like to make imitations and impressions of them, and they seem to enjoy it. I also think they would describe me as good-natured and as someone who is thorough and detailed when we are planning events and activities. Finally, I think they would say I am an overall likable guy.
What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
During football and basketball season, I love to listen to college and pro ball. My favorite NFL team would have to be the Indianapolis Colts. Many people ask me why the Colts. This is because my dad took me to see a pre-season game when they were known as the Baltimore Colts. After that game, I named them my favorite team. I even followed them when they made the overnight move to Indianapolis in 1984.
If you could play any instrument, what would it be?
Well, in middle and high school, I played the trumpet. Not sure if I can play now, but I did back then. The trumpet is one of my favorite instruments.
Do you like roller coasters? What is the scariest one you have ridden?
I used to love roller coasters and amusement parks when I was younger. The scariest one I ever rode was Space Mountain at Disney World. I remember standing in line hearing all the warnings that said, "If you're scared, it's not too late to turn back." I was so afraid, but I did it and had a great time!
What do you find most challenging about your job?
Keeping a high standard of quality when it comes to my work. I am a bit of a perfectionist and sometimes a little hard on myself. In the sewing business, sometimes there are things that I have no control over and cannot fix, but that's okay. This also relates to life in general. I have come to learn this lesson over the years. All you can do is put your best foot forward and try your best.
Who do you look up to within the company?
There are three people who I look up to at BISM. Annie McGee, who taught me to sew. She is so talented and a huge reason I can do my job well. Malena Rodriguez, my foreman, who is very helpful and kind. Last, but not least, Angela Hodge, my supervisor, who is very thorough, fair, and able to answer any questions I may have.
